Well, I thought I had a post up already of my little project but I couldn’t find. So since I actually have something to update after better than a year, I thought I’d share.
For a recap: 1978 Was Gold on Tan W72 A4. Why it is now a really faded red, I can only guess, but I’ll bet real money that beer was involved.
Since the A/C wasn’t technicaly removed (found it in the trunk) I can only guess that it was used for weight distribution. And holy crap does it weigh a lot.
Build sheet
Ok, meat of the update. Block was in OK shape. Had to go .030 over, other than that, all was good with it. 6X-4 cc’ed at 93, had them shave to get 91. With the new pistons, standard deck, head gaskets etc. I should be sitting pretty at 9:1 compression.
Rotating assembly is all balanced. Went with SRS pistons, RPMMAX h-beam rods, Billet Flywheel. Currently have a friend getting me a custom hydraulic roller cam for an EFI application since nobody makes one for a Pontiac.
Making a little progress here and there. Like the old saying goes, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
