Where does the fiber ash tray wire connect?

Trying to restore the dash now and get that back in.

IIRC, It connects to the bulb socket in the lower pass side corner of the instrument cluster

Hey good work on the car. I saw your Flipping fixture on Tac and am going to make one for my self. Thanks for sharing how to build it. I am going to replace the front half of a frame rail.

  What a learning experience!  :!:
Used rear bumper already on car, and left dash and brakes on shell.
 First try I realized all bolts where only finger tight!
Second realized I made horizontal center line to low at 22 inches.
Used a jack to start it and at 1/2 way it was balanced. Then realized tool chest was in way and had to scoot car 6 inches.  Then chained it to the rafters for safety and nailed support boards on base.

I am trying to figure out some wiring.  Does anyone know where the wire cones from that connects to the tan part of the heater control?   I can't find it on the main harness and I checked the one from my parts car and don't see it there either.  Is this part of the A/C harness?



Quick Update:  I started it for the first time yesterday.    now trying to get the dash back in it.

Something is different with my harness.   This is the lead coming from the heater.

I think I am missing a short harness of some sort.  I found this description on the web.

The control harness is about one foot long, and separates into two plugs which connect to the compressor switch and the fan speed switch. Earlier Firebirds were wired so that Max A/C always put the fan on high. At some point (probably 1980), this connection was eliminated. The little extra plug connects to the power supply from the I.P. harness. The early harness is shown on the left, and the later harness on the right.


Anyone have one?

Just rebuilt the carb and it finally idles.  Looks like I need to paint the throttle lever.   I soaked the carb body in parts cleaner,  then put Alodine 1201S on the main body.
