Title: My 1980 T/A (COMPLETED)
Post by: onenadrag on June 07, 2009, 09:44:58 AM
Here is the 1980 T/A that I bought about 8 months ago. I am restoring it just because. No rust, perfect interior. Just a few dings that I can't live with. Besides I own a restoration business and I want my car to look great at the shows and show my work (calling card). I am replacing the 301 with a 76 T/A 400 with mild build. Under the hood will be basecoat/clearcoat black and all stainless body bolts. New suspension etc.  All of the panels that are off of the car in the photo have been blasted, body work done and painted. I should have it done by winter.

Are you going to keep it the same color?  I am a huge fan of the white car and blue bird!  If you can't tell!  :)

We all can't wait to see more pictures!

Post by: onenadrag on June 18, 2009, 07:59:30 AM
Yes it is going back white, but I haven't decided if I am going to put the blue bird back on or do something different (my wife likes the 70's stripe up the hood, roof and trunk in blue). Also the picture was taken in my garage not the shop. I will post more as I procede. Thanks for the compliments.

Here are a couple of more pics. I have decided to forgo the hood bird and paint the 70's 2 tone blue and black stripe on the car. So far I have painted the trunk and hood scoop. The hood is next.

OK sorry I haven't posted my progress lately. I have painted the roof , both quarters and cowl. I have also pulled the rear suspension, fuel tank and subframe. Everything have been sandblasted and painted with por 15. The underside was cleaned ( 1 week of scraping) and painted base coat clearcoat black. I have installed the subframe back in the car with all new energy suspension components (front and rear). The rear end and fuel tank will be installed by wed. Waiting on the 400 engine to get finished soon.

Well here are some pics of the engine. It will be put on the dyno this week and broken in. Then I will bring it to the shop and paint the engine before the install. Also I installed the new aluminum radiator and fan setup on the car. My metal fab guy at work made the radiator support for the car. Of course I will pull off the core support to drop the engine in.
