Performer RPM Intake Manifolds
« on: May 09, 2006, 08:11:08 PM »
I was interested in replacing the stock manifold on my Firebird and while reading reviews and descriptions of Edelbrocks Performer RPM Manifold for 350 and 403 Olds I came across this.

Quote
Will not clear hood on 403 Olds, Firebird/TA

My question is, does this mean that it will be too high to fit under the hood when everything is completely assembeled(carb, filter, intake, etc)? Or am I just misreading this?

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, it means it is too high, that once you put it on, the carb will sit too high to allow the shaker to fit on there.

Then you dont need to worry, it wont clear the hood with a shaker hood scoop but should be fine with a plain Firebird. Justreplace your current air cleaner with this one.

BTW, this installation would be on a 79 Formula not a T/A, if you couldn't tell by my name.

Talked to an Edelbrock tech today and found out that the Performer's raise your stock by 2 inches, if you have enough room then it will work.
