'79 24N1 trim code
« on: May 07, 2008, 02:32:08 PM »
Alright....been researching for 2 days and I can't seem to come up with a straight answer.  I could use some help.  I am picking up my first TA since selling my MINT red on red 79 400 4-speed t-top car 16 years ago ( I am still kicking myself over that).  It took me almost a year to find the right deal, but Saturday is the day!  Another '79 W72 T-Top car!  My problem?  The PHS documentation states 24N1 custom vinyl for interior.  Everything I have found says it's light blue, but I have also seen dark blue trim for sale and in pictures.  The car exterior is 29L/29U.  So, is the interior light blue or dark blue?  Will that be on the build sheet, provided the build sheet is still there?  Currently the interior is black (and a bit of a mess) and the exterior red, though very nicely painted.  Anyone?  Bueller?

The 29U/29L is the Nocturne Blue, the dark blue metallic GM used in 79.  I don't know about the vinyl interior, but FWIW worth the blue vinyl interiors I've seen were the lighter blue.  Some of the fabric seats were the darker shade.

Welcome to 78TA.com!  Post up some pics of your new find when you can, and we'd also like to see some of the ones of your old car too.  We LOVE pics! :) :) ;)

the24N was the Deluxe Vinyl Light Blue Interior.  The darker blue did not come out until 1980.

Thanks, everyone!  Here is my T/A as of last week.  I am looking forward to her return to original condition.  Best I can tell, there were not many 29L/29U 24N CC1 L78/WS6 packages pushed out.....at least I cannot find another at this time.  No p/w or locks either, which I rarely see on 79's as a whole.  So I am guessing she's pretty unique and I am looking forward to giving her the care she deserves.  I passed on a 69 judge for this bird, so I am committed to say the least!  Of course, my wife doesn't want the chicken....that's going to be a whole other dilemma as it's clearly listed on the invoice.  I pointed this out to her and got the resounding response "So?"   I am keeping the AM in the divorce proceedings!

Although this is actually from the 1977 Product Manual, it
illustrates the trim codes pretty well. I also believe this was
the same for 78, 79.

and... my first TA was 29 Exterior and deluxe vinyl interior,
number 24 which looked sorta baby blueish...
