i am guilty of this as well.  sometimes i cannot find what i am looking for right away so i just post the question, knowing someone will have the answer i need or point out the link.  i'm not very patient right now it seems.

I remember when this forum had new stuff everyday.  The social media sites are just a revolving door now.  Someone is always making a new 2nd gen page on Facebook and they don't go anywhere.  I guess builds and info on the forums have been tapped for a while now.

Definitely not as busy as it was back when it started.  But I still check in to see the latest.  Always a great site to find just about any thing you can think of.  And if you can't find it, just ask.

I just signed up and have or will have questions. I bought my 17 year old son a 79 T/A 8 months ago. It's not a show car but not a pig either. We rebuilt the front suspension, if it could come off we took it off and replaced or rebuilt it and painted/POR15ed it. Did the timing chain and realized the nylon was GONE off the cam gear. We dropped the pan and then noticed all the nylon was in the catch can of the oil pump. We also changed the rear main seal while we were there. The sneaky Pete tool came in very handy.
 It's a 403 with a 2.52(?) diff.
  The plan is to start paint and body with in 2 weeks. If we are living right, I think we can have the top coat on in 6-8 weeks.
  We have to do door hinges. That'll be a new one for me.

  I always have fun playing cars and trucks, him? Not so pretty much.
 We started disassembly starting at the back. Bumper skin, fins,marker lights, rear window trim and back glass is out. Guess what I found under the trim? Yep! Rust at the quarters AND at the roof line. I acquired all the sheetmatal to fix it, but I have never done THIS kind of patch job. Welding in patch panels is not that big of a deal to me. This one takes a lot more brain cells and planning. I'll try to post some pics. There is nothing on the interweb to help me along. I may have to make my first u tube video. I'll need the help from my kids for that one.

There was a fellow on here that went by 4 Speed and he was very good with restoration work. He has a 79 that he has won several awards with. I know I last heard from him over on Trans Am Town. He lives by Greenville,Ohio.There should be plenty of guys here to help you.

Depending on the rusted area you may be able to bond rather than weld your repair in the window channel. In many cases it's quicker, cleaner, easier, safer, and stronger than welding. The drawbacks are additional cost and repair should be within the channel.
