I was just looking at some '78 TA's and noticed that some have the chrome trim  along window opening.  See picture below.

Is this something that "is" supposed to be on the car?
Did I over look this part?

Are you talking about the horizontal chrome strip along the top of the door (next to the window sweeps)?

Or do you mean the drip rails at the top of the window (on the roof line)?

Does anyone know if that is a "special" package?  Wonder why some have it and some don't.

I mean, I guess over time, they can come off, and probably most didn't want to replace it, but I'm wondering if all Trans Ams non T-Top, came with this out of the factory?

The car in the pic does not appear to have the exterior decor package, which is why it has the small round bead on the window sweep as opposed to a car with the package... which would have a sweep without a bead and a separate chrome strip that extends along top of door, fender tops, and rear edge of hood.

It does however have the drip rails along the roof line, which also uses a different molding at the vertical edge of the C pillar.

Like mentioned, not all cars got these items..depends on how it was optioned when ordered.
