Well a 71 firebird followed me home two days ago. Overall it’s a pretty solid car that does need some work.
First thing I’d like to tackle is the carb. It’s well overdue for a rebuild. Choke doesn’t work properly. It’s a 2bbrl Rochester. My question is is it worth having someone rebuild the current one or just toss it for a 4 bbrl. Would a 4 barrel be a bolt up item or would the intake manifold need to be changed also? The engine isn’t matching so not too worried about originality. Any recommendations on carbs?
Secondly the TH400 shifts VERY hard. The fluid isn’t burnt or low. Seem to have seen some posts on various forums that a good place to start is new fluid and filter.

Here’s a pic

Give it all a good service and tune-up. Get the 2 barrel sorted and keep looking for suitable Qjet and 4bbl intake. 350 Pontiac? Not sure I'd want the TA decals on it, the rest looks neat.

Yeah I agree the T/A decals need to go.

Maybe the wheels too lol, imagine if it had a real 455 SD swapped in!

Well I got a set of 14” honeycombs that are in pretty nice shape. Also bought a rebuilt Quadra jet that was revolvers and such. Edelbrock intake.
I also planned to remove the trans am stickers and replace them with proper year “firebird 350”
