I like the look -- but I must admit, the floormat on the roof part looks a little cumbersome.  Doesn't that flap at highway speeds? ??? ???

That's just temporary until he get's his giant Superman cape back from the tailors. ;)

That's exactly what I'm wanting to do. That is universal T-molding you used, right?

Larry, i believe it was called " gatorgrip " you should be able to get it or something like it from any good screen company or fitter.

You might be better off telling them what you intend on doing and let them pick the product for you.

Ill try and shoot some cross sectional pics of the rubber as i have a load left over as i need to do the rear screen.

Bringing this post back to life.

I want to flush the front and rear glass on my '73.  The body is completely stripped an building up the mounting surfaces would be easy.  I would like to see how others have done this and what materials were used.  I would prefer using original style glass.

Thanks,

OK I really need to get on this board more often. To do the flush mount glass you do not have to modify the channels the glass set in. I just used a thicker butyal tape to raise the glass up higher. Then some urethane to make sure it seals.
I used 3/4" gator grip weather stripping around the glass.
Now on the curved rear glass yes I did have it flush mounted before I swapped to the smaller window. The sides of the glass as you raise it up they come out and end up pretty much flush. Once the weather stripping was on you couldn't tell.
I just like to create extra work for myself so I swapped in the smaller window. Also it looks much better with my targa top.

Thanks for posting the extra info.

Is this what the Gator Grip looks like?

Yes it does. Once you drop the window in it bites down on the glass and it's almost impossible to pull it off.

Hey xtrmeta, BEAUTIFUL car by the way.  I am at the point of putting the glass back into mine, and really like the look of the flush mount. Did you have to weld anything, or just use the thicker pads.  Do you remember how thick they were? Also, did you have to break off the posts for the original metal trim first, or does the gatorgrip install around these.

Anyone's help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks, no there is no welding involved. I think the tape I used was 1/2". I'd have to look at the box to make sure. It is pretty simple to do.
