AC delete kit
« on: June 07, 2011, 12:01:50 AM »
Okay, so doing an AC delete is new biz for me.  I'm looking at the acdelete.com Master Kit.  Is all that necessary, or do you guys recommend piecing it together with used parts?  I've been saying I want to wait until fall, but, the more I think about it, I'd like to get it done before the Indian Uprising show in August.  Having that big honk'n AC unit sitting back there with all the hoses plugged is just plain ugly.

if you aare just deleting it you will need the a/c delete case, as the factory non a/c case is much different size, and the holes in the firewall are different... it wont fit unless you weld and cut on the firewall..... just get the case and you should be good...

Someone else had mentioned that you might also need the smaller blower wheel when doing this also.  I just removed my AC box, but have not ordered the delete box yet to see if this is true.

Firebird Central has a delete panel that looks a little different than the one from acdelete.com . Has anyone tried that one yet? It is a little sleeker and doesnt have the holes for the tubes going through it. It looks like they go above and below it.

That's interesting.  I'm curious too.  You're right, it does look a lot sleeker.  Here's the link for those interested: http://www.firebirdcentral.com/product_p/htr-568.htm

Anyone used this?  I'm not concerned about factory appearance.  The ultimate goal is to have a very clean engine compartment, without any cutting and very little if any filling as it is a resto-mod.

4SPEED - Forgive my ignorance, but is that what a factory AC-delete would've looked like?

Thanks for all the info.  Extremely helpful.  For you guys who have seen both, which would you prefer, all things considered?

Well if you have a/c and trying to delete it, go with the bolt on one, as you aren't going to get any bonus points for swapping for a correct one...... Save you time and money that way

i would go with the sleeker one like mine but you would need to do a bit of modding not that hard a job .or go with the other if your not hands on. either one would look better than that big aircon box
