Which tranny?
« on: June 19, 2010, 09:36:58 AM »
I just bought a '80 Firebird Yellowbird.  Was told everything is still stock on it.  It has a 301 and a 3sp auto.  Anyone know if it is a th350 tranny.  Thinking of haveing a shift kit put in later.  Thanks

welcome aboard crazyd wv.... yes it should be a TH350 and shift kit depending on the performance level you choose will greatly improve the trans. What part of WV are you from? as it take the wv in your name meaning West Virginia. As for your Yellowbird.. would love to see pics of it, I have not seen many Yellowbirds... mostly Blue and Red. You will find our site to be entertaining and educational.  Thanks for joining our little community.

Didnt they put 200 metrics in the lower firebird line?

Not in WV anymore... moved to PA.  I haven't figured how to post pics yet. But I'll try to get pics up soon.  From what I have heard, there don't seem to be too many yellowbirds around anymore. :-\

I also think that to be true too.

Finnally got under the bird today, and going by the shape of the trans pan it looks to be the TH350.

a th 350 will be square except one corner will be angled like a square with a notch in the corner not sure about a 200 but a 400 will be straight on 1 side and squiggly on the other these are pan shapes
