Title: Hey prettybird81...
Post by: logikfive on April 15, 2007, 10:56:34 PM
I thought you might get a kick out of this.

I found this photo while going through an album of my dad's old '81 TTA almost exactly like your car.

Ironic it is almost exactly the same car as yours and taken at a very similar angle!  8) 8)

I also just happened to notice, both pictures have the drivers side window down but not the passenger side...

I wish he kept that car, but unfortunately he said it was one of his least favorites (301T plauged with reliability issues) and he didn't own it for more than 2 years. :(

it is a good looking tta though... i can't say i've ever experienced any maintenance issues with mine... but... i can see how that would be a pain... it's the hood that i love :) Thanks for posting that pic... it's neat... really neat.

What are the chances that they might be the same car?? ;)

If I recall, Jeri can trace her's about 3-4 owners back to the original owner; I'm thinking it came from the SW...but don't quote me on that.

But I thought the same thing...that would be too cool.

You never know when it comes to that stuff. I was told that my T/A was once owned by a guy that was a Senior in high school when I was a Freshman. He supposedly owned the car during his last few years in school, so it would have been on the lot while I was at school. Of course we can't prove any of that, since it's just rumor. I would hate to see how many people owned my T/A before me. I do know that the guy I bought it from got it from a used car lot in Hannibal, Mo. He was told it had been an Illinois car all of it's life until the Mo. guy bought and then traded it.

I really doubt it's the same car.

Unless Jeri's car was ever in Texas, I can't picture it. I'm sure there were more than 2 cars made exactly like these.

Heres a few more pics:

Here she is with my dad's other cars, '78 T/A, '76 Formula, and of course the '81 TTA.

While it would be awesome to see its the same car, I don't believe it is.

Jeri, do you know if the original 301T has ever been replaced on your car? I know the one in my dads was replaced within 2,500 miles on the car.

looks like somebody else had the bright idea to get their kids hanging out the window or was it the other way around ?

I don't think Jeri's car has ever had a front license plate on it -- I don't remember any holes in the bumper... :-\ :-\

Hmm... that reminds me.  I have to drill some holes and get my front plate attached to the car :(

Also, a thing I noticed but never mentioned, my dads car had the belt reveal molding, which Jeri's car does not. Not an easy thing to remove either, especially on the doors where there are little studs to hold the molding on.

Definately not the same car.

HEY!  you guys have been talking without me!!!  I have documentation like Jeff said going back all 3 previous owners... started in PA... sold to a man in AZ and then to NM... and then to me.  Never a Texas bird... but what is unlikely is that it's same color combo AND has snowflakes... just crazy...

Seeing that newer paint on your dads makes me inclined to look at a fresh coat for my TTA....
