Basically any '70 to '81 Firebird could be converted to a Fire Am. You just have to install the correct VSE parts. Steve (Maltesefalcon) is adding some VSE parts to his T/A.

Well, I guess you could use a Herb Adams kit on an early 'bird. Looks like the parts that would be easily visible are there. You can see the brake cooling ducts like MalteseFalcon was asking about for his car.

The guy is pretty upfront about this not being a TA (which is obvious) so he's not hiding anything there.  I'm not sure how the body work would hold up in the long run, especially around the wheels. :?

Heck yeah you could use the VSE stuff on the 70.5 Birds and Camaros... if I remember correctly, he even had stuff for 1st Gen cars.

Cool car.

Hallelujah!!!  :D

There's the pics I've been looking for!

Yep, it has all the parts, so its as "real" as any Fire Am. Maybe (and only maybe) not as valuable as one that can be documented to have been done by VSE themselves, or Cars and Concepts, or a dealer, but it has the complete suspension package, so its a Fire Am.

Hmmm -- Steve, can you tell where the brake ducts come through from those pics?  You can see the ducting, but not real clear where the holes are.  Maybe you could email him and ask him to post just one more pic...  8)

I may have already done that

John, It does look like it goes AROUND the radiator. I wouldn't have thought there was room. Almost like my idea better, although it would be hard to do without removing the core support.

Less than 24 hours and NO BIDS?!?! Nearly 7,000 views though...is it me or did the price drop? $3,995, I thought it was $4,995 for opening bid....
 8) I would love to have it...now where do I get the $$?

If it was within 1000 miles of here, it would be mine!

I hope somebody picks it up and restores it with a proper Pontiac engine! I like George's idea about the RA IV!

True that. It looks like he really put some time into it(once upon a time)..it's just been neglected :(

He says he dropped the price because he just noticed that it needs a new frame rail (but he's also taken the rear disc axle he was going to throw in out of the auction unless it reaches $5K) - and he's added this:

"If it doesn't sell, it goes in storage, and I will do what I had originally planned to do, that was to fabricate an alumnium frame from rear bumper to sub-frame, go back to a shaker hood, new paint job, install the new stage 1 engine w/drysump oiling , fuel cell, put in the rear disc  brake rear end, new tires & wheels. So you may see the car back here again, a turn key car, but needless to say,  for ALOT MORE $$$$  So how do you think this car will look in a Porche red ?"

I'd kind of like to see that  8)

That Hurst Shifter in the car. Can those still be bought new? I would like to do some things to my car that could have been done when it was new. I liked that shifter.

Never mind found a few priced around $289.
