1979 Monogram T/A, Build started?
« on: October 20, 2008, 08:53:34 PM »
Okay, I know this isn't a real T/A, but I thought a few of you might enjoy a some pictures of the model build. I haven't done much yet, but here are the rims and tires.  I had to remove the plastic chrome in the snowflakes to get the gold paint to take.  Then used toothpicks and such to put the gold in the rims, and the white in the whitewalls.  Decals for center caps to go.  I'll try to post some pictures as I go for those of you that are interested ;D Oh yeah, I figured out a smaller picture on my camera ::)

Limey where did you get that model?  I haven't seen a non-tenth anniversary 79 before.  Is it a new model?  I don't see it available online anywhere.

My wife found it on ebay.  The instructions that came with the kit indicate that it was made in 1987.  Search ebay under 1/8 monogram models.  They pop up every now and then, but they are proud of them!  As far as I can tell, the car looks just like mine.  However, it has a 400 with an automatic ::) ::).  It's not correct, but I plan on getting rid of the auto shift lever, and putting in a boot and stick ???  Good luck on the search ;D

If I didn't know better, they look like a set that Hitman restored.

Thanks guys, I think this model may take more work than my T/A ::)  I was thinking of sending the rims to Hitman to take care of ;) ;D ;D ;D

Hey guys, body had some cracks in it.  Had a friend fix it, then prime.  Engine compartment is painted.  Interior is primed and waiting for camel paint.  Let me know if you guys have had enough?
