I pulled the rear out of the car this past weekend and by the looks of the spring pads this is the 1st time it was removed from the car. Before I sand blasted it I noted all the factory inspection marks I could find.

Bad news went to remove the axle shaft and discovered the pinion shaft bolt sheared and the pinion shaft had welded itself to one of the side gears. Looks like I will need a new ring case as this one is damaged and by the time I get the pinion shaft out it will be beyond repair. I did get the wheel wells undercoated and no overspray like the factory, I just can’t do it sorry!

Sorry to hear that Pat!  That #%$#^@* pinion bolt is a PIA.  Mine was also broken when I went to replace my axle seals!  That seems to be a real weak spot on these second gens as there have been a few threads on that same problem.  On another note, the car looks just fantastic.  I hope I get to see it in person one day :)

I ordered a two line fuel pickup/sending unit from the only supplier who offers it and out of the box it was defective. I ordered a second unit from them and it was also defective so I sent both units back for a refund. The problem is they start with a one line fuel pickup and they have someone add the second line but they are trying to solder a stainless steel line to a steel unit, and don’t add a line support like the original. After reading a few post on 70 to 73 fuel pickup I decided to make one from my old unit and a new single line fuel pickup. I was able to reuse the old vent line and line support and solder it to the new unit.

This is the defective unit I sent back, note the half a** solder job

This is the unit I did, note the line support.

The orginal unit

Pat

Im pretty sure all the T/A's had 2 lines, the plain Firebirds had one line, it also depends on how it was ordered
