I restored the horn button to finish the steering wheel. The plastic center has some little cracks but its original so I polished & reused it.

Still looking more amazing. so now that you are down to the "little"details does that mean you can post some pics of the car the way it sits now? How near the finish line are you?

Pat's a week away  ;)   It was going to be wrapped up by the end of 2009 as I recall.  Just kidding ...no need to rush perfection.

The holdup is I’m having the doors repainted as I was not happy with the top edge were the S/S trim attaches. I should have the doors back next week??? Tomorrow will be two years since I bought this car and at the time I was thinking it would take 18 months to restore it, and here we are 24 months and counting.
Thanks!

The problem is ,what are you going to do with yourself once the restoration is done?  :D

That's incredible - what did you use on the black face of the cap to get such a nice smooth finish?

I used 3000 grit sand paper & plastic polish on the center cap. It’s actually clear with the bird & black paint on the back and silver around the edge that you can’t see.
Thanks!

Sanded by hand?  What polish?  The GF's BMW X5 has pillars that look similar to clear plastic that have oxidation on them ... if I clear that off, I'm her hero.

Actually each and every one of us has plexi glass polish in there home ,at least I hope so (well maybe not the British)
I used to do alot of car audio mods using plexi and lexan ,and low and behold I was told tooth paste was a great polish .
It worked great for me .I used toothpaste that had the paste look to it ,not the gel , and a cotten rag .After removing the plexi from tthe router table ,  I sanded the side of the plexi with 240 ,then I used the rag and tooth paste and it came out clear as can be . Takes a little elbow grease though
