« on: October 23, 2012, 01:35:29 PM »
I am about to remove and replace my rear package tray on my 81 T/A. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to do this? Is there any step by step procedures? Any glue required...ect? Thanks

No glue needed, I took off the  front sections removed the old one and slid the new one and tucked it under the back window trim.  Then reinstalled the front sections and you are done...  If anyone else has more to add?

Easy to do but I will have to take out my rear seat back and had some glue. The material is not long enough to stay tucked behind the seat and when the windows are down the wind causes it to lift up.

^LOL forgot about the seat bcuz mine weren't in when I did it?!  :P  The Vinyl Flap should tuck behind the seat to keep it from coming up right?  Guess it depends on where you get it  as the dimensions could be a little off?  I  got mine from Classic if that makes a difference.

The vinyl flap gets glued to the vertical steel panel separating the rear seat from the trunk (not sure what it's called), as well as the ends of that vinyl flap also get screwed down with the top screw of the rear arm rest panels.

Ok, so i just removed my rear speakers and was checking things out. It looks like my jute is glued to the bottom of the package tray cardboard! Is this correct? Can i remove it from the old cardboard without destroying it or can i get a new relacement?

i lined my package tray with sound deadner. after that i couldnt use the jute.  so like an idiot i threw it away...brand new!   i also put a perforated black drawer liner on top of the package tray so it looks better than a piece of cardboard.

I have been working on this package tray. Took the old one out, removed the jute from the original tray, cut new speaker holes in my new tray and reglued the jute to the new one. I temporarily installed it in my car and the color is off quite bad, the blue is too light. I tried some detail spray to darken it but it only mildly helped. Is there a good colormatch paint that i can get local or what else can i do? Interior color is called dark blue.

I used my old jute because it was in great shape. I got lucky there.  As said before, carpet/headliner adhesive will hold the flap down. Classics package tray colors are terrible unless you get black I guess. Mine was camel and looked more like a washed out gray. I contacted them.....lol....they didn't seem to care. I had some camel spray left from redoing all my panels and just prepped it and shot it. Looks great!! Take a piece of your interior down to a paint supply store and ask them to match it in a pint size for interior, prep it and paint it. Should turn out fine.

Does hitman sell this, or do  i have to go to fbodywarehouse? I am just not sure if f-body ship to Canada. Looks like that is the way to go....very disappointed in the color match from REM that i got from classic industries :'(
