Hey All,
Have found my baby. She's a 1978 Y88 TA.
Has the performance handling package, Pontiac 400 engine, AC, rear defroster, power windows and cruse control.
Has build sheet, owners books and PHS report.
She's currently waiting to get on a boat to come to her new home down under.
Fingers crossed I have her home before Christmas.
Will keep you all updated on her journey.

I love that car :) If I had some cash last year, I'd have one of those myself :) But I just spent the money on a Turbo Trans Am project car :(

Looks beautiful ... Arizona or New Mexico car by the looks of it. It's a little sad because I keep seeing more and more of these cars headed to Oz. I was born there so I can always go back and claim citizenship if we run out of 'em over here ... LOL.

Yeah the muscle car scene is growing rapidly down here, so much easier and cheaper to import cars from USA now. With the dollar the way it is atm and mostly because you have such a bigger variety to choose from. But its all good cause we love em and really look after them down here.

Yeah thats how I was last year after GM day, the only difference was I had my car in the garage but couldn't drive it at the time. Was spewing all the way home driving in my dunny door! (commodore for those who don't know). lol.

Good paint is also completely covered in a moisture resistant polish and all chrome and aluminium is covered in a moisture proof wax.

that's good to here. in my line of work I deal with quite a bit of containers. so I no how things need to be packed in them. now all you got to worry about is if a strap brakes and the the car hitting the side of the container for the next 2000 miles. hehehe.

A mate of a mate had a old Chev and a new VW in the 1 container coming over and the VW got loose and smashed its self against the Chev all the way over, the Chev was repairable but the VW was a wipe out!!!!
Hopefully they strap everything down well in my container!

I'm surprised. My initial reaction was that it wasn't a Y88. There's a few little things that aren't correct. But they're very minor. It's a terrific looking car. I hope mine looks as good as that someday.

Have got the import clearance from Canberra!! ;D Trying to get her on a boat this week if not will wait a couple of weeks so she not sitting on the docks over the Christmas / New Year period.

OK OK OK........ So shes here and I have seen her......... I THINK IM IN LOVE!!!
Arrived safe and sound, in better condition than I expected nothing a good clean up wont be able to fix.
Until someone decided to hit the front guard with something (were not sure what hit it) and chipped the paint about the size of a nickel and put 2 little dents in the guard >:( >:( >:(
WOW was I pissed to say the least!!!
Nothing that cant be fixed, but it just shocks me that people dont respect cars especially a rare car like this one (in AUS)... and they didnt even tell anyone!!

But I have to ask. How weird is it to drive a LHD car on RHD roads? I know my cousin just got RHD subaru (old mail car) and it is a trip to drive it on LHD roads!

Havent taken her for a drive yet ill get used to it, it will be strange at first it freaks out all the other drivers!

Sweet Andrew can't wait to meet her and give her my approval! Pity about the ding, but she will be ok. She can be fixed!! ;D
I have spoken to the transport minister, all trucks will be inspected entering Victoria, any suspicious cargo like a Y88 will need to be checked by myself first.
And when we do go for our first cruise, the rules are stay behind the Pacecar!! :P
Will take a few drives to get used to it, there more you do it the easier it gets. I nearly did doodoos in my pants the first time, especially on the freeway with 2 big trucks either side of me.

NAh just the y88, the bonneville is a realy nice car, these cars were all sent in the one container 4 cars per container.

Brought a tear to my eye but I had to it......... :(
Drill the front bumper today to fit the front licence plate holder, thought Id try blend it in a little so got some gold spray paint and went to work.
Looks good I think.

Nice job on the front plate holder. Beautiful TA, it is a shame they make you put a front plate on her :(
