This is the view from  our main head end on top of Mt. Baker during winter

No kidding?  I was in Victoria just last week.  Are you on Vancouver Island?

I'm a service advisor at a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership. The pay is lousy but the hours are great.  ::)

I want Ricks job when he retires. So Rick, when are you hiring your replacement?  ;)

Actually I am at the other end of the province . Cranbrook is is about an hour and 40 minute drive to the Crowsnest Pass in Alberta ,and about a three and a half hour drive to SPokane Washington . Vancouver is about a 10 plus hour drive due west from here .
If your are ever heading to the south east part of BC ,make sure you stop by

So what brought you to the island Rick ,work or relatives?

The Rhapsody of the Seas. ;)  We took a week-long cruise to Alaska for our 30th anniversary.  Victoria was the last port of call before returning to Seattle.  With the way things go these days we figured it was a fool's errand to put everything until for our 50th.  Victoria is a nice town, and the climate is ideal given how far north it is.  It's at a higher lattitude than SirLDragon (Larry Benham) back in North Dakota but it's not afflicted with the 9 month winters he suffers.

Milly -- Nancy tells me there is a line forming for my job.  For the life of me, I can't figure out why... ??? ???

I am currently a Carpenter of sorts (in the Carpenter's union but not much of a woodworker).  I built scaffolding in the refineries and power plants but I'm hoping to get a job as a mechanic at a mine (thanks to Scotti for pointing me in the right direction).  If not I'm going to do like ronnie soon and start my millwright apprenticeship.

Friday at 9:00am?  You're either taking the day off like me, work 2nd/3rd shift or you're unemployed?

Hmmm... I use to work in textile as a "des'il'fit'er"  A hosery mill where I pulled pantyhose over my head for petite women, If they came off my head with resistance then I would say "des'ill'fit'er"....

I am a industrial mechanic and electrician for Getrag Gears USA. Manufactures of differential units for Chrysler and GM. Its been a roller coaster ride since the beginning of the year , I have survived 3 rounds of layoffs and unless the places closes its doors permanately I was assured my job would be safe but no promise on how steady it would be. However since the cutbacks I have also had to fill as station assembly staff.

The worst job i ever had was working on mining equipment. Building it in the facility was a blast but servicing it out in the feild was terrible...especially in the dead of winter nights when its -10° with a wind speed of 25mph... A mudhole I stepped in on my way from my truck to the equipment had froze back over by the time i got the information on what the machine was doing and I had to go back to my truck for my multimeter and a screwdriver.

Rick (Rainman) , I sympathize with and for you in your job... your in temps I never knew possible. YOU THE MAN!!!
