Topic: 1976 trans am

Just acquired a 76 trans am from original owner.  It is  totally original, with slightly over 5000 miles.  We have the paperwork from dealer.  This car is very nice and has never even been in the rain.  We will be offering this car for sale fairly soon and am wondering if there are a lot of these cars with this low of mileage or if there is a registry for the trans am that we could check.  Also am wondering how rare and valuable this car is.  It is silver w/black interior with 400 auto.  The only things changed are the oil and battery.

I find this post leaves a bad taste in my mouth because, obviously, you purchased this car to flip.  But that is just my opinion...

That car is a average 76 TA.  What makes it special, to some degree, is the mileage. Other than that fact it is just a vanilla 76, unless it has some rare options.

agree that is an average T/A (as average as a 5K mile 36 yr old T/A can be) i mean that is the most common drivetrain. OP sounds like may be a dealer so cant blame him for trying to make a buck by flipping

I'm not sure how you know it's never been in rain...
Anyway, in my opinion it's worth 20- 25k max.

An all-original 76 T/A with only 5k mi on it is a rare find, but with 46,701 made only the 76 455 S/E T/A's with 4-speeds and t-top get top dollar- the rest might fetch around $25-30k max. But as a dealer I'm sure you'll price it for max profit- you might get lucky and someone might bite at your price.

Well, to gauge this I had the exact same car other than color.  It was highly documented and even had the hand written order slip from the selling dealership along with anything ever done to the car including oil changes.  The only options were floor mats, honeycomb rims, AC, and base AM radio with 8-track(no hood bird). The car had 19k miles on it when I lost my job and had to sell it.  I got $9,800 out of it.  Granted I had to sell it fast and had it priced to sell at $15k but every time someone called they would say it was just a regular TA because it was a 400/auto car.  This was a few years ago.  Back then the market was a little better than it is now.
