Hey Aus78Formula, this kind of shipping is 99% of the time controlled by the buyer (yourself), so you have to pay extra for sea insurance. When i got my TA shipped over I used a import company that specialised in bringing cars in from the US, they have it insured under their policy, oly extra insurance you can get is for the boat sinking! Your car is covered until they crack the container doors open then its on my insurance.
They charge more that the drive on / drive off mobs but for an extra 2K its well worth it and better packed for travel. Im currently in the process of shipping out a 66 GTO at the moment and im using a company called USA to AUS, they handle all paper work and customes clearance, all I need to do is go pick the car up when it arrives here.
Like I said a little more expensive but well worth it to not have the stress of it all.
Fingers crossed for our new mate that his "new" TATA gets Downunder safe and sound and his enjoying his "dream car" with the rest of the guys and gals in Vic this summer!
