wow
thats some of those optional  ventilation holes you can get
Good luck Gunner and i hope it doesn't surprise the ol wallet too much either ;D

Well there's been a slight change in plan. As rotten as the body is on my car, we all (wife, me and body guy) confabed about it and decided that mine, while it wasn't too far gone to fix, it WAS going to be labor intensive and expensive to do so. He had a nice straight California body that he was going to cut up and use to put a T-Top roof on mine.  The thing about it is it would be more cost effective to fix the body that HE has and use MINE for parts. So thats the plan. I've gone from fixing a 78 to a 79. There is the new project car

Rigth now they're down sandblasting it and getting it ready to work on. Should have more pics by next Wednesday

Well at first I was a little heartsick that my original car was to far gone to be fixed economically, and that I was ending up with a 79 instead of a 78. I just had to get my head in the right place, thats all. I'm going to end up with a MUCH better car, in the long run. I just hated seeing pics of my 78 sitting in the shop half stripped. It looked so sad, like it knew what was coming (It just became the parts car).

But a sharp 79 is a sharp 79. And this one has T-Tops (which my 78 didn't). And they aren't that much different that it's worth quibbleing about. And since most of the parts on the 78 will cross over to the 79, there is a LOT of stuff that I DON'T have to go chasing around the country looking for.

All in all, an equitable, and practical solution to the problem.

Gunner

Just FYI these are the guys that are doing the work on my car. They are going to post pics also so they can do a "Beginning to end" photo essay of whats happening

Hey that's great that we will  get to see the restoration.
Glad to hear things are progressing . It wouldn't bother me at all to have a 79 , but I'm a nut and would change the front and rear clip . Although I have always liked the 79-81 front  to, and really like the tail lights.

Some how some way I am going to own  a 4 speed TATA

I thought about that, but thats not for me. Some guys do it, and it's looks REALLY good, but if I'm driving a 79 I want it to look like a 79. Now, and this shows my level of hyprocacy, I didn't bat an eye thinking about putting a 400 poncho in a car that came with a 403 olds in it, among other things. I don't know why I'm that way, I just am. I'm funny like that, I guess.

It's ok I'm the exact same way, except mine has a 455 but it's olds powered so I'm not super bad... just kinda bad ;D

Mine is probably going to end up with a stroker in it. 400 Poncho with a 455 crank in it.

Negative, not yet. Car should be back from the sandblasters next Wednesday as I understand it. It's that time of year when people are mothballing their boats for the winter, and having all the accumulated crud blown off the hulls of their boats, or it would have been done faster.

Yeah I know. It's eating me up, too. If I was there I could go stare over their shoulders so I could get them to REALLY screw up ;D
