can someone point me to a good carb source for my 79 TA with olds 403?

Ive changed throttle cable, return springs and checked all linkages for interference and free movement as well as take apart gas pedal and lubricate where it made sense but carb continues to get stuck when smashing the gas .....not fun!

i suspect leaking carb or butterflies may be getting stuck or vacuum secondaries hanging open but havent been able to make it get stuck while under the hood(with aircleaner/shaker on or off)and would like to swap carb with rebuilt original or a new aftermarket carb but havent been able to wade through the sea of BS out there

i did see where a guy here was rebuilding on this forum them but he hasnt posted in years

any help would be appreciated as my sons bird is completely apart and ready for assembly and this aside from posi and rear springs (suggestions welcome) would be the last piece of the puzzle before long awaited cruising begins...see you guys at the shows

Have you disconnected the cable from the throttle bracket, see if it's the cable sticking or the carb itself? I know it said replaced but that would indicate not ruled out. Could be a slightly bent butterfly shaft too, or warped carb base which has the same effect and both of which need attention form a decent carb guy who knows q-jets.

Check if it's the original carb too, they are the better ones for 403 anyway. 17059253 (most common) /17059223/17059553 or same with 9 changed to 7 or 8 for different years.

only sticks when driving .....probably worn out butterfly bushings

Ok bit hard to test then unless car warmed up and back in driveway. Also make sure choke isnt holding it open at fast idle. That's the perfect carb for it, look to get it rebuilt or a replacement same number.
