Just as a visual clue, was it outlined in pinstriping and did it have gold grilles?

best bet is to look for the build sheet, or a phs report...  i dont think y88s were listed on the cowl panel... but basic things to look for would be the gold trim(dash bezel, bumper grills, gold birds on the auto shifter knob, horn button, wheel center caps) and also to have the later 5 color bird, if it has original paint and everything else...

How do u do that?

post a pic or find a cowl tag
the tag would be on the drivers side near the windshield but you have to open the hood to see it. or use photobucket to post pics

You could get a solar gold non special edition in 78. At first you couldn't but once they cancelled the Y88 they kept the color for regular cars

Hi N PRGRES,

It was a factor. Price was high. If there was no way it could have been a Daytona, price was too much. Add in dodgy mods for compliance in Australia (sure to get a fussy cops attention) and a 403 engine (wanted 400), you have the trifecta. I could have accepted one of the three, but not all three.
Cheers,
Mark.

I guess my point is that even if the car was made before the race he value isn't any different if it "could" have been on the track. Don't waste yur time trying to figure it out or pass up a good car because of that
