Fender Air Intakes.............
« on: July 22, 2007, 11:12:52 PM »
In my search for parts and buying a bunch of boxes of parts, I have come up with three of the fender intakes.  I plan on using the top one in the photo.  My question is, exactly how do they attach to the car?  I know that little metal arm has a tab that fits a spot on the fender, but is that it?  Doesn't seem like much to hold it in there........

The long section that goes down the side of the fender, has a clip for using a screw thru the fender well.
The top section "clips" onto the end of the long plastic section that fits alongside the inner fender.
That small thin clip, clips to the fender top section, with a screw thru a clip that sits in the top plastic piece.
I hope this makes sense.

I think I got ya.   The long section attaches to the inner fender well by a screw and the metal tab holds the elbow to the fender.   I also picked up this.  It has the cloth hose.  I've got another that I bought the plastic hose for.  Is the cloth for certain years?

Dunno what year your car is, but those parts look like the ones on my 75 TA.  I'll take a guess and say they'd at least fit 74-76. :-\

I've got a '78.  I had a '75 back in '78.  I didn't remember it having a cloth hose but that doesn't mean that it didn't.  LOL

I have a pic of mine -- it's been on the shelf for about 30 years, unused.  I opened the shaker and blocked off the normal air intake snout.

The original cold air intake hose is a cloth like material.  After market are the plastic style.  Hold on to that cause its worth some bucks.

My original 1974 Trans Ams had that material style air hose too.
When I replaced them, they were the platic kind.
Somewhere, I have them sitting in a box somewhere.
And boy, do I have boxes full of stuff sitting around here. ::) ;D
