Well the 78 finally made it here
« on: May 01, 2010, 02:15:10 PM »
Bought this car while I was in Iraq and finally had it delivered....There are a few dents that will need to be addressed, but everywhere I've looked, I cannot find any rust damage....Not sure if Its a Y88 or not but doesnt matter, by the end of the year she'll be(dont hate me) black with a black interior.  The guy that had it before me put a built up chevy 350 in it...but did a hack job to the wiring....That'll all have to be replaced....but all in all...good running car for the time being til it gets torn apart.

Agreed...but it says above that he is aware of the Y88 possibility yet has already made his decision on a direction to take the car.

in 1978 theY88's had a tan steering column, others had black, so I would say yes it is Y88. Hate to see it changed but it can always be changed back, just keep any parts you remove and dont throw away.

im led to believe this car is infact a y88. judging by the t-tops, column, dash bezel, steering wheel and bird in it gold bird center caps cannot see the grills or nose emblem.

ok you can give me the car now.....oh how i love y88's

the nose has gold painted headlight bezels with a red pontiac emblem....i'll get the phs on it in due time...again, not too worried about it being a y88....I searched high and low for a year for a y82 to no avail....so doing the next best thing...cloning it.  I already have a complete restored black interior ready to put in it when the time comes....so wont be needing any of the interior to the car. will post later in parts for sale..lol

Rick...the temptation is there.....that door is not closed..we'll have to talk before I start tearing her apart.

other than getting the PHS to confirm it... but to me and a few others here agree its a Y88
Taking a wild guess (since i dont know the VIN) but i think it would have had the 403 Olds in it hence the current Chev motor in it

ok you can give me the car now.....oh how i love y88's
buy it mate ;D

You can always take them back to stock if you get a black painted Y88 ;) I know a guy with a Black Y88, got it restored at Trans Am Florida some time ago:)
