1989 Bandit ii

(1/1)

gmguy:
I know this is primarily a generation 2 site but I know the site is full of knowledgable guys (and gals).  A friend has a 1989 Bandit ii he is thinking of selling.  From research I have found the Bandit ii is just an appearance package and approximately 500 were made each year between '87 and '92.  The car my buddy has states "prototype" on the glove box plate were others have the production run number stamped, i.e. 50 out of 500.  Does anyone have any information as to what "prototype" means in reference to the bandit ii?  Is it just another marking gimmick?   Did someone print a plate themselves and stick it on the car?  The car has the fake scope, bandit ii decals and even the Chattanooga Customs decals.

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the replay and the link.  I had previously read that page.  While filled with good information about the Bandit ii's it did not answer my question as to what "prototype" means and is it legitimate or someone attempt to make a standard TA more than it really is.

Wallington:
No idea. Was just posting a reply since no one else did.
