Decal question.
« on: February 10, 2009, 08:54:32 PM »
I think this is the right spot for this question did some trans ams not come with ANY decals? Because my 1979 t/a has the original paint under a macco paint job. I was using a razor blade to scratch off the paint where the decals should be and it went Blue(Macco),Primer,Silver(original paint), than two coats of primer NO DECALS I know it came with no hid bird but I'm not sure about the others thanks Jeff.

If it is a Trans Am, then it came with decals.  I am sure any remaining decals were removed before the macco paint job.

The "decals" that Brett mentions included the rear spoiler call out, the fender callouts, and (on most years/engines) the shaker engine size callouts.  The big bird on the hood was an extra cost option, although it's fuzzy whether or not it was part of "combination" trim packages like the LE and SE (I don't know).  But for all "regular" TAs the big bird cost you extra.  I know because I didn't get it.  It wasn't a "delete" option, like the radio (my car was a radio-delete option car).  I just elected to NOT pay the extra $55 for the big hood bird.  So there were lots of cars without hood birds back in the day.

I just baught a 77 Trans am and it does not have any decals any where. So basically the car at some point was repainted and no decals were reinstalled.
