Topic: Front License plate holder

Trying to figure out what parts I need to mount the front license plate. My bumper has 3 holes. 2 inset wider at the bottom. And 1 upper in the middle that has a spacer. Do I just need the plate with all the holes in it?

Ok so it appears you may have a '78 model. Here's what you will need. You can make suitable spacers out of rubber hose as per original, and with angle cuts to match nose. Not sure why the NOS pieces are angled both ends, they always seem to be.

Sorry to re-hash an old thread, but does someone know the part number and/or where to order these spacers?

I read that someone used 1/4 fuel hose and cut them to application (one side flat and one side with a slight angle) but I would prefer to use the correct part if possible.

Anyone know the correct screw length? From searches I found someone mentioned 4-1/2 or 5 inches long stove bolts (assuming 3/8" diameter). Another thread I read 6" or 6 1/2" is the length.

The bolts are #525657 and the rubber spacers are #500519. The bolts are 1/4" even though it says 7/16" clearance holes! Maybe ask this guy how long they are. Pity the holes in the steel bumper are so large, could have threaded them and skipped the nuts.

sweet thanks! 1/4" is a big different in itself, seems like big holes now. Makes sense that you can use 1/4" fuel hose though.

There has to be a better way, add rivnuts to the existing bumper holes so as not to require nuts or trying to reach inside to secure them. There's a lot of guys on here and many would have front plates, perhaps just one has a suggestion. Seems weird some guy in oz who doesn't even have front plate has all the answers.

I do not see how rivnuts would work since the bumper side is contoured. I have seen rivnuts used on many modern cars but the bumpers are molded flat for them.

Oh, the rivnuts could go on the steel bumper side, that would be easy to do.

Yes, as in threaded into bumper steel. Just thinking of how many washers and nuts would end up rattling around inside before you got them on.
