There is a lot of curve there compared to the stock board that is flatter where the covers are, I'd expect if not molded that shape, that they are simply too wide and have to do that to fit.

Don't live with it. Look into it. Take the side trim covers off and see how much the board flattens out or sticks past them. Then trim it, the upholstery will still be able to wrap around the new edge and still be hidden. Loosen off the seatbelt covers, they should be pulling the board up as it tightens.

Wait, your side trim covers above the doors are already off, the board shouldn't already be covering the edge. I have a stock board sitting at home, will measure the width as a basis. The stock boards had side tabs that poke into the roof to hold it up so that gives idea of where it should sit.

The front of the seat belt cut out width over a stock board measured over the panel surface is exactly 48".

Yes i think you have something there , i might have to trim the sides alittle, "makes sense"
the retractors are from this car, the tabs are there on the sides.
the abs is very hard to work with and Heavy as a son of a gun.
this is my first head liner job, last time i had my interior guy do it. and it came out mint.
but i since moved to Tucson. he did things really inexpensive for me.
thanks for the help.
