Hello from the UK

Hi All

Thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Andrew and I live in the UK. I got my TA a couple of months ago and am I slowly learning about the car as I attempt to restore it to its former glory.

Its a 78 400 auto that was originaly chesterfield brown (its now red)

Having just read this excellent article http://www.78ta.com/HTMLobj-16215/W72TECH06.pdf I now think I have a W72 (matching numbers - chassis/engine - not checked the other parts yet) car. But i'm not sure if it has the WS6 package too.

According to the article, it was after 22nd Feb 78 that the W72 and WS6 were able to be ordered seperately. Having deciphered the cowl plate, I know the car was manufactured in 3rd week of Feb 78. So i'm hoping that it may also have the WS6 (but the cowl plate doesn't say ws6). I guess the only way i'll know for sure is to get the PHS documentation.

Welcome!
There are a couple of Pontiac clubs over there, and I'm sure some members over there can help you out.
Have you tried to find them?
That would be my first thing to suggust to you.
Clubs are by far, the best way to learn how to work and find info on your car.
Got any photos?

Yeah, I'm a member of the Uk Pontiac owners club and the American Auto Club.

Here's a pic of the car the day I picked it up. Looks a bit different now as I've started stripping it down.

Good!
They can help quite a bit, and when you go to their big shows, can even look at the cars up close to help you with things.
Sometimes, some of the members come overseas to visit here in America, and bring stuff back.
Who knows, maybe you can save on shipping if you need stuff. ;)
Nice looking car, you going back to all original?

Original? - Well, I was going to go my own way and quite liked the idea of an off black (v dark gunmetal grey metallic) paint scheme with some modern touches like the Year One Special Edition wheels and maybe a four link setup, but then i saw Mike Cundiff's 78 and now I'm thinking that may be a good route to go down.

But as you guys probably know, thses things evolve over time so I guess we'll see what happens.
