I have a 2002 Firebird Formula with a 5.7 Liter engine.

How can I tell if its a LS1 or a LT1?

By the fact its newer than 1997, its an LS1

Yep...an '02 would have the LS1!  I think '96 was the last year of the LT1.

Nope 97 was the last of the LT1, and 98 was the start of the LS1

In the Firebird...I guess I was thinking about the corvette when the LS1 came out in '97.

its just the engine production code...... like ws6 for the suspension, ls1 was the motor option
