« on: February 04, 2012, 06:28:17 PM »
There is a gold 79 about 4 hours from my house for sale. All I can see it needing is a radio and front seat covers. Dash has a crack. Here's the link and a few interior shots http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/2793330275.html Wants $1,500 does that seem fair? What would you guys pay?

whoa! a lot of rust, looks like it needs quarters, then worry about inner wells, needs drivetrain and will not be matching number car. if youhave time, money and patience i would offer him a grand, but then at gas being $3.75 a gallon your back to $1300 good luck

I have a drivetrain and could care less about #'s matching since its just going to be a driver. And it looks like hardly any rust really

since you have a drive train, and if the rust isnt bad 1500 isnt that bad, if it were me id try to talk him down to about 1000-1200 though  looks like there is some damage by the front of the fender and nose on the pass side so keep that into consideration when negotiating , and check the floor boards/tail panel   good luck

Chill guys. Im not going ti buy the car without looking over it first. I learned my lesson about hidden rust the hard way with the 76. Gonna go look at it and inspect it before shooting a number. Also here's a pic. Only one he sent me in the format that will post here unfortunately

Little on the pricey side, all the ones I have seen at least had a drivetrain for that price even if not numbers matching?!  Good Luck Tho!

My .02. That thing has been on there for a while. For this reason he may take less. Around here cars with T tops  are harder to come by than hard tops at any price. Definately use the defects to your advantage when negotiating. If it needs floorpans...be ready to shell out aroun 2k minimum. Good luck.

No rust on floors or trunk pan. No rust at all besides that one spot he listed. Most of the interior parts are brand new like headliner, door panels. What makes me interested in this one is 1. Its in our price range (that always helps lol) 2. Doesn't really need to be repainted 3. T tops are super cool 4. Local. This is probably my last shot at one, I was just asking if the price was fair. I think it is, but you guys think lower so i'll shoot him an offer.

maybe picture is bad, but sure looks like rust on lower quarters and wheel wells, may be the angle

There is a small rust patch on the driver side rear quarter at the very bottom. It's just a bit on the surface. No rust holes or anything. I could sand that out easy. Down here its just about impossible to find these with no rust anywhere. This is the cleanest Texas car I've seen. So much humidity in the air.

Very true. Hardly see any t top cars here for some reason
