RC / Flying model planes?

It was cool looking at the R/C cars the thread before this one.  I know some guys out there have R/C or flying model planes and would like to see who's doing what...

I currently only barely dabble in it myself but have been interested since I was a teen attending pattern flying competitions with a family friend.

About a year ago, I built the control-line plane shown (Flite-Streak trainer with OS Max .015) and flew it a few times... then decided to try a loop..... I'll put it back together one day   :-[.

I also have an R/C "RTF" Hobbico trainer with an .040 that I bought a couple of years ago.  I've flown it a couple of times with an instructor... hope to get back on it one day...

Always wanted to get into RC planes but there always seems to be other more important things to spend the money on.

I too picked up the RC airplane bug 9 years ago.  Started out with glow motors.  Built my own 60 sized trainer.  What a blast.

Here is a pic from a couple years ago.



Currently my hanger has anywhere from a 55cc gas motor to a 170cc twin 18hp 40% extra.

Great fun & stress reliever, until you crash.  All planes have expiration dates.  We just don't know the date.   ;D

I remember seeing that pic before.  NICE!!!!  Looks like you have "Extras" (I think that's what they are) in most every size.

Are you into all that "3D" flying?

I have 3 extra's.  35%, 40% & a 480 size electric.

I not really into 3D.  I do a little hovering.  Not much if at all in hi Alpha flight. 

I would call myself the average Sunday flier.  I just like to fly big planes!

I've been flying R/C for about 10 years and have 23 planes All Warbirds!!! Nothing but WW ll U.S and RAF fighters and bombers. All of them are electric gave up on gassers when I was flying COX control lines.

Your can teach yourself to fly with the new flight sims (Realflight) and start off with slow 3 channel birds.

Yeah... the simulator software is just amazing...

I'm amazed at how consistent I am when using it.  I crash EVERY time!!!

Awsome those are some nice planes! I used to fly them to! I had a small trainer with a small glow engine, then started working on a model from hanger 9 f4u-corsair with my grandpa but never finished it, still have it but I got out of the hobby cause I had to choose either planes or cars, but hopefully will get back into it, I always wanted to build a giant scale b-17 of the memphis belle,

A buddy of mine has one of those. He also has the largest RC Piper Cub in the world. 3/4 scale IIRC.
