1980 Pulse Wiper Switch grounding question....
« on: December 11, 2016, 04:05:42 PM »
Hi All,

My wiper motor stopped working after having the engine work done. So I got a new wiper motor since I thought it was a dead motor after all these years.

I have a 1980 pulse wiper switch & a new (refurb) cardone 40-1681 wiper motor (has pulse board & relay).
Same thing as with the old motor.....nothing.
I am thinking something went wrong with the wiring when the engine was taken out & put back in.

Here is my question...
I have tested the pulse switch & have a question on the output of it:

Grey wire stays at ground from the "off" position, all through the pulse section & low, but loses ground when clicked to "High"
Purple wire only goes to ground when clicked to the "High" position.
Green single wire goes to ground for everything EXCEPT on the pulse setting (anywhere in the pulse setting).

Is this the way the switch is supposed to work? Is it outputing correctly?

Also, any ideas on what to check under the hood?

Thanks!

Remember....No matter where you go....There you are.
