4L60E any one running one
« on: June 20, 2009, 09:49:15 AM »
Any one running one in a 81 Trans am or Camaro? I found a good deal on one. My main two questions are how do you controll it with out a computer on a carburated car and is the bell housing the same as a TH350? What is the difference between the 4L60E and 4L80E is it like Th350 vs Th400?

the 4l60e is an electronic tranny, meaning its controlled with a computer, its got shift solenoids in the valvebody to put it in different gears.....so you have to have the trans computer for it, its got the chevy style bellhousing, the 4L80E is just a bit beefier....i think its the output shaft is bigger thats about it.....

Looks like about $700 for a controller to run it.  Not sure what trans to put in this thing.  Just know I need over drive and want it to be strong

200r4 is the BOP style and can be built for a motor......ask lomileta   the 700r4 is just like the 200r4 but with different gearing and with the chevy style bellhousing..... both those dont need a computer to run, and are quite common.....or you can just do a t-56 crossover
