I plan on hiding a better stereo or having the stock AM radio upgraded with an Ipod plug. So I installed two 6”x 8” speakers in the package tray. I made two adapter plates as to use the factory speaker holes instead of drilling more holes for the new speakers.

Pat,
72's may be different as far as how the jack mounts/stows but I know you have to use low profile speakers, like less than 2 1/2 inches, in order to avoid interferance issues between the passenger side speaker and the jack. If your jack stows the same as the 78, under the package tray, you might want to test fit it before you get the rear seats in place just in case you have to change speakers.

The jack on a 72 goes under the spare tire. I checked this morning and I should have about an 1/2" between the speaker and spare.
Thanks!

Ah, so the jack does stow in a different place on the 72 but still comes into play a bit due to it raising the full sized spare a little. Interesting.
Glad to hear that it won't be a problem.

By the way, I was wondering what your basic Fleming 55 goes for these days?

Equipped with all the bells and whistles i.e. bow & stern thrusters, stabilizers, 12’ tender, water-maker, sat TV, Sat phone, custom A/V system and full electronics is 1.7 for the 55 and just over 3 for the 65
Thanks!

Unable to find the caulking use to seal the kick panels in any of the restoration catalog, I went to the local Ace hardware to buy some plumber putty. I had read in another thread that plumber putty was a good alterative. Instead I found some rope caulk that looks to be the same consistence as the original caulking and it worked great!

Very nice ... every time I see the before pictures I'm like "toss it".  Then you scuff if it up, paint or otherwise make it look new.  Tell the truth, you've got some genie that blinks this stuff back to the original condition ...

Totally breathless here...the detail your putting in is amazing... I do have a question to ask on your detail.. are you planning on adding any inspection markings as well.  During certain time frames thruout GM produtions as a part was installed it was inspected to confirm it was in specification, if it was in specification then it was marked with a oil paint pen... this usually was for component parts. Now this does notmean all components had them just select units during ceratin time frames... In order to be correct you would have to find out if GM switched suppliers of a certain unit. The new supplier would be unders full inspection for a time perios until GM deamed that it was trustworthy, thus the usual multi color markings on units or grease pen number markings.
I realize that this would be a lot of work to research.. but IF a man went to this extent to me it would seperate a restoration to a by the numbers replication....just curious is all.
Anyway you coose... You are doing a amazingly awesome job... something anyone ( even GM ) should and would be proud in awe.   GREAT JOB>>>

I’m planning on it; I just need to find another 72 that still has its factory marks as I only have a few pictures of the few mark left on this car.
Thank You!
