I started on the center console today. The original console was to beat up to restore so I    removed most of the steel mounting bracket and put them in place of the plastic mounts that come with the new OER console. Then I found some truss-head machine screws that have the same size head as the ribbits on the sides of the console that hold the brackets. I use some bondo to fill the slot on the screw and painted them black. After painting the console blue I installed the screws/ribbits as I think they should be black not the color of the console.

Pat, I wish I had known you needed some black painted head semi tubular rivets. I have a bag of them here that I use for one of the items I build and sell. I'd have sent you what you needed. Still will if you want them.
Looks nice as usual.

fwiw, I found the correct size carriage bolts when I did mine at ACE hardware, they were a little long but otherwise perfect fit and look.

Funny, I bought the hardware at Ace. They have a great fastener department but the smallest carriage bolt they had was 10-24 sound like your Ace carries 8-32 carriage bolts which would be a quicker fix!
Thanks!

I think that was ripped there. Laid down it was a straighter cut across the front of the shifter.
