Hello,

I was wondering if a 1980 trans am wiring harness is the same as a 1974?

Nope the fuse blocks are different as well as a few connectors, if you wanted to use one you would need to get matching underhood engine harness. The 80 has more features built into it.

this is a direct replacement for factory, the ones you posted are just a somewhat universal kit... scroll down to page 14... some people have used their harness' and have had nothing but great things to say.....

Is it better to get the one you posted or the other one I posted?

For originality and ease of installation the one through mh, for price and budget go with painless but you'll have to put in the work and time to install it
