Y88 --------- It begins
« on: July 15, 2008, 06:34:59 PM »
This is the beginning of my 1978 Y88 restoration.  It will be a long process, and I look forward to posting pics of differents phases.

Getting ready for some used tires and need to install radiator.  Fairly new, aftermarket radiator had 2 leaks.
On July 22, the Y88 will go to the tag office, get a $10 inspection, registered and tagged.  I've had the
car for 2 years so there will be interest and penalties.
Called the Dept. of Motor Vehicles and found out what the final tab will be.
DON'T ASK.  It sucks but that's my fault.
I'm getting a personalized tag that will read  " 24CARAT ".

Once the car is tagged and legal,  I will start stripping it down to the shell and get ready for the fun.

This will be a complete and total restoration.

Worthy of restoration.  I assume it's a Pontiac 400 under the hood.  Cool - Z71, I've a 2004 Arrival Blue

I know it's hard to believe that the pic in my avatar is really a Y88.  And I'll be very glad to get some primer on her and get rid of that purplish brown w/black primer mix.

As far as the Gold T-tops go, I'm still looking.  Posted in Parts Wanted section.

You might want to go take a look over there. Could have swore I saw a set for sale in the For Sale section.

Yeah be prepared to pay a pretty penny for the right ones. They only came on Y88's so the only way you get a set is if a Y88 was scavenged. Sad in a way.
