lol , I did the same thing when I primed the oil system on my 400 . shot me right in the leg.

its all stock bored 20 over, makes it a 406 ,so not much more power than stock, im not planning on abusing this car so its fine with me ,when this is done im gonna build a toy that i can beat the he!! outa  thinking ls1 6 speed? this correct resto stuff is not for me lol , i have always built custom cars/trucks and thats what i love to do.

well got the motor BACK OUT! again loaded up going back tomorrow, he gonna send crank balancer flywheel out to be balanced ,, it better be right this time!

if it wasnt a numbers matching car i wouldnt have wasted my time with the 403 to begin with, i have a built 400 in the corner looking for a home,  pretty soon i might just through it in there!

drivers side right behind power steering there is a knub that sticks out its stamped on there would take you a pic but i dont have an engine lol

droped motor off today, i also located a factory dip stick tube i have been looking for.. of all places ..gm still makes them lol $8.42

Yes, it's on a pad on the block below the 4A number on the front of the driver side head. It's on the side surface of the pad, not the top surface. At first I looked at the top surface and nothing was there. So, I wirebrushed the side surface and there it is. The numbers are really small. You got me curious about mine since I didn't know if the engine was original to my 79 TA, since the engine was rebuilt before I got the car. Turns out that the VIN does match...yay!  :) . Here's a pic:
