Yahoo! it's fixed. Embarassingly enough, I had some wires crossed up on the alternater. I'll know more tomorrow when I pick it. They indicate it's charging fine now. It took them two hours to find the problem.

hehehe, well, no, I've got to fix the waterpump and timing (I 'think' I might have a timing chain problem). Then I might think about it. The main rear seal is leaking but not too bad so I'm not real worried about that. So, if I can that done over the next couple months then yes, I'd feel it's ready for a road trip.

I had a leaking rear main seal on my 76 and I convinced my wife that it meant I had to rebuild the motor, now I am playing with some real hp. Good luck with your car.

hahaha! Well, since I want to drive the car this year I'll probably tackle it next winter but yes. When I "fix" that I'll be doing a rebuild and some addtional horses will be in order.

Looks like I had one wire not connected right and now that I see it, I can see how the wiring diagram also shows it so .... I miss read the diagram :?

Anyhoo, it's done and charging like a champ. With nothing on it's at 15 and with everything on it doesn't fall below 13. Now, on to tackling the header gaskets and the front of the motor :twisted:

Great to hear you found the problem Rich. I have found in most cases like this it is usually something simple. I will keep your little episode in mind here if I experience similar problems in the future. :lol:
