Wiper motor color
« on: February 23, 2014, 09:26:55 AM »
My wiper motor paint is flaking off, what is the Factory color on a 1978 T/A? And can I get it in a rattle can?
Thanks

Unpainted! As in bare metal case with black plastic cover up top. If it's in poor condition simply spray a metallic steel colour, not chrome. Or lightly sand back and clear coat, or polish. Perhaps it was painted along with previous owner touch-ups, or even some replacement units may have been black.

The paint that is flaking is an Aqua Blue color. I guess it's not a factory motor..

Could be careless overspray of repainted blue valve covers, see that before.

Here's another variation on a restored 79TA where they have replated the end cover:

Looks to be bare as original finish, perhaps it was rebuilt and the electrical place repainted it to look different, who knows. Strip it off. wipe with thinners, buff with steel wool, spray with oven cleaner, whatever works.
