We all love pics and I'm new here....

Project: Disco Bird....

Hello, Mike here and I'm kinda new to the site...I picked up this car a few years ago as a replacement for my 69 GTO and I wanted a leaf-spring Poncho and a 77-78 TA seemed to fit the bill and once you grind the belt notch in the rear wheel well, a nice size tire can fit. I named this car the disco bird and relax, there is nothing wrong with you eyes or monitor...It is DuPont Chrome-Illusion paint on the WHOLE car. I bought it in the condition you see here, minus motor. There's an extra hole in the frame under the oil pan where I pulled a few chunks of piston and rings out of. Car seems to have everything except T's(which I really wanted) yet it was close to home and priced right. Originally a 60K mile car.

Now the car is in pieces and I'm in the midst of installing a 12 point cage and getting ready to put this car on a diet. It will be your run of the mill, average NINE second street car. Full interior, factory glass, mufflers, street legal, with the power windows and locks. I have plans for a 535" MR-1 block, Kauffman High ports, TH-400, Dana 60, About a 200 horse shot of sauce in a 3100# car. I know it seems a bit different from what I do see on here and I do see ALOT of VERY nice cars, it's just going fast and doing it in style is what I'm going for. I've never not owned a classic Pontiac in the 26 years I've been driving and this one should be a fun build. In highschool I had a '74 TA with the awesome SD 455 motor. I remember it was a numbers match 4-speed car....Yeah, I wish I had it back too. We all have that one we want back and that one was mine...I was a kid...? I am also always on the look-out for more of a driver to enjoy when I don't want to pony up for 110 to go for a spin...I have a 69 GTO with a 474" E-headed Pontiac (Kauffman spec'd) with a full factory interior and no roll bar that runs high 10's in street trim and I want to restore that back to more of a stock look with some driving(safety) enhancements-that's why I picked up this TA, and besides, nobody in my area on the street has one that runs close to what I plan this one running...Mike

Thanx, this is prolly the first car I bought with nice paint. I want to scuff it and put 4 more coats of clear on it and cut and buff it to a mirror. The color...Screams drug dealer...I know...This thing, nobody will take seriously at the track or street with this paint...Should hustle some $$ pretty good...A Van Halen sticker on the back window or a Cragar Louver would help too ;D ;D...Mike

Welcome Mike.  I really like the your car.  It looks like you have some minor tweaks left to do (don't we all).  What's your plans for a radio?  As soon as one of these retro places add bluetooth to their designs I will go that way so I can use the original location but right now I'm using the map pocket so I can have my music beyond am/fm.
