Wow, some paint job.  I noticed that in none of the pics does he show the inside of the doors.  The reason is that they don't have any interior pieces installed on them.  If you look at some of the body shots you can see the drivers side interior door without any interior installed on it.

Good eye rkellerjr,  A very unique car, for sure.  The door panels probably  blew out the window.  I like it for several reason's, The 1st would be he left the stock 403 in.

Not a bad paint job.  I have seen worse.  Wouldn't be all that bad if it wasn't for those huge arms on the side.

I'm afraid the engine is the only thing I like about this car. It looks like it's got aluminum heads on it too, although he never gives any details about the engine. He obviously put a lot of work into the paint scheme, but then started to slack off. What is with those front seats? Looks like he just strapped or sewed some rear covers and lower skirts on them.

Quote from: seller
There is less than 1000 miles on this complete Restoration.

Would someone please give people like this an accurate definition of the word "Restoration"???

And what's a "Hurst frame"?

I'm not wild about the paint job at all.  I think they went a little overboard especially on the sides of the car.  I'd still drive it though! :)

This guy has some kind of flu or something. This car should be in a movie, " The Flush and the Feverous".  I would have to take it right to MAACO or Earl Schibe.  No interior pics, no engine details or power stats, If I built that much motor, Id want you to know ( My Buick makes 575hp ) for sure.

:o I dont feel the "fast and the furious" paint scheme does anything for this car. that stuff is best left to the tiny tuners, i mean rice burners, oops i meant the import tuners. Havent been on here long enough to know how polliticaly correct or in correct you folks try to be... rofl!!! But i love the 403 still in there and the paint job is pretty nice without all the other stuff on there. I built a 79 SE last year for my now ex. i built a 403 (well maybe more like 418) alluminum heads and a bunch of other goodies. That thing would run  ;D . I hope she enjoys it!!! hahaha

Hmm I like this line from the auction...

Quote
There is less than 1000 miles on this complete Restoration.  The paint is a top notch HUGE $$$$$ custom job and the racing stripes are painted starlight black, they are not decals.

Methinks someone has more $$ than brains if they spent huge $$ to paint it like that.

Again???

Thought it sold for $9700. And if the seller really needs the cash then why oh why wouldn't you hand over the keys/title and run with the $9700? The ebay fees have got to be racking up on this. Unless this is a business trying to advertise their work at which point I don't think I'd be using that to show off what a shop could do...

Yeah but you can block bidders. I'd done that about the 2nd or maybe 3rd time. 7 and still going??? Something's fishy. Maybe its one of those famous stories..."See honey I'm trying to sell it but they won't give me what its worth."
Title: Re: Just in time for HALLOWEEN, (MUST SEE)

I think Hammer Birthday post is more annoying.  The Ebay listing fees are only $40 per listing, so that is only $280 spent on listing fees.  And when you relist it the first re-listing is free.  Also, if you have a non-paying bidder, you can also get the Ebay fees refunded.  So, he probably has not spent more than $100 or so on listing fees.  Do you think someone should email this guy and ask him to stop listing it so we can get a break from seeing it?

Don't buy a cheap T/A that needs work unless you don't have to drive something very clean, otherwise restoring a car like this costs so much more than buying one finished.

Hmmm....going to take a lot of cash to put this thing back to collector value.

Place your bets now folks...I'm wagering we'll still be seeing this car on eBay next Halloween.

It's not a bad car...just some things I would never do to one...like the Fast and Furious decal on the side...the name Trans Am says enough...and the door panels and such are not that badly priced if you really wanted to get them

Well, with the slumping economy and Bush's $600 welfare check to all the happy citizens that make less than 75 grand I say make the guy an offer of $600.  That way the economy will be stimulated  ;D

and then pick the winning raffle number????

I have actually thought about doing that in the past.  Doing some sort of a raffle for a chance to win a Trans Am.  Do you think that would go over?  Maybe a raffle with a $50 ticket price and only 1000 tickets sold, so you would have a 1 in 1000 chance to win a Trans Am.

You don't get any for $50,000... the winner gets one Trans Am for $50.

Post by: kentuckyyeti on January 30, 2008, 07:32:52 PM
So are you talking about a restored T/A or a nice driver?  I think you should post a sticky/poll to see how much interest there would be.
Title: Re: Just in time for HALLOWEEN, (MUST SEE)
Post by: RENOVATIONS on January 30, 2008, 07:53:37 PM
I assume a $50K raffle pot would give the winner a well restored bird.

I still like the idea of $10. x 1000 members to buy the orange bird on eBay...or $15. x 1000 members would buy the car and get it a repaint...then you could raffle that car maybe. :)

I think you'd have to watch the laws on Internet gambling and Ohio laws about raffles.  It's done for charity all the time but it can get sticky, depending on the political ambitions of your local attorney general. :-\

Rick has a point...I just learned recently from a friend about the hoops you have to jump through to set up a legal raffle.

Just paint one red and cover it with tape...that way the government will like it.  :-\

And at least in NY you're going to raise a heck of a lot of flags with the DMV when you declare the car to be "purchased" for $50. They want all the tax money they can get so a declared value would need to be set to make the legal weenies happy.

Of course, Brett could rig it to look like the car was registered in Liberia and the raffle was based in the Cayman Islands...:D :D :D

Let's do it.  I'm sure HITMAN can probably find out a way to make it legal.  Most States
now tell you what the tax value is anyway, When buying a used car.

No, not with Japanese math.  For them 10% of 4.8M is whatever your current balance in your account is...although the bank will cofirm that AFTER they transfer it offshore to the seller... :o :D ;)

Yes, you could win it for $50, but you would have to pay the tax on the declared value of the car.  So, if the car would cost $25,000, you would have to pay 6.75% on the $25,000 which would be about $1,700.  But that could be paid from the proceeds.
