replacing a power window motor on 79 TA
« on: July 24, 2014, 11:32:44 PM »
Just bought a 79 TA and the driver's window motor goes up but it wont go down. Figure I need a new motor. What else should I replace while in there? I see a window regulator as well. should I replace that too?? First of many questions as I restore this car. Thanks all.

Are you sure it's the motor?
Have you checked the switch?

Unusual, when they are tired or have wiring burnt out it's usually going up as that's where the load is, not for just dropping the heavy window down. I'd also check the switch. You can also take the door trim off and run a live wire to either the top or bottom motor terminal for up or down, also try adding an earth lead onto the door frame itself, it grounds through the hinges so not at all ideal.
