Price Check on 17059263 Carburetor
« on: November 29, 2011, 10:48:37 PM »
Price check on a Quadrajet that was taken out of a 1979 4 speed.  This carburetor is stamped "17059263  1328 CJW".   As you can see, the engine has the W72 valve covers, but the block and heads are not W72, just standard "6X8" heads and a regular 400 block (1977 XK).  The donor vehicle was most likely a W72 car which had a motor transplant somewhere along the way.

I plan on rebuilding the 400 for my '77 (displacing the 403 that currently resides in the engine compartment), and will use a not so rare Quadrajet on it.  I cannot see anything obviously wrong with this carb, other than a scratch that is visible near the part # stamping.   The owner claimed the car ran when he loaded it up on a trailer to take home, but we all know how claims like that go.

After I get a good idea of how much it's realistically worth, I'll either post the carb for sale here or put it on eBay, depending on interest.  I apologize for the small size of the photos.  I have full sized pictures if anybody is interested.

Thanks for the help!

if in working order but needing a kit 300.00 all day long.  with all the parts . like the vac line tree on the back. the hot air choke tube, the metal brake vac tube.  also check and see if the choke pull off still holds vacuum. and the 4 bolts if they are the correct ones.  maybe the metal tin divider plate thats under the carb.

Tonight I'll start checking it over thoroughly and will report my findings.  Hopefully this will help out somebody trying to complete a numbers matching restoration.

$650 is pretty steep but I see where you're coming from on that carb.  I must have been too nice to one of my fellow forum members when I let my '79 W72 Carb go for $200 about 2 years ago.

I look at it like this, ok, $300 for a core, then a rebuild kit, new pull offs, re color and re plate, new a/c selonoid, I'm not into the jack of all trades, so a good carb rebuilder, and that's about there. just the ac delco pull offs and selonoid is around a hundred.

Wow is that price for any BOP Q-jet carb or just specific ones? I have 2 early BOP Q-jets just laying around the shop and gave one away for $20.00

I am currently looking for one of these 79 carbs numbered 17059263 and would also be interested in an original number matching intake manifold and the air cleaner assembly. Please contact me if anyone has any of these.

I got my carb and paid 300 for it and it came with all parts but the hot air choke tube. Ordering my rebuild kit from Cliff tomorrow. 81 you are generous to offer it for sale they are a hard to find especially for the people that cant get to the Pontiac events to check swap meets.
