Day 30 *You gotta see this!* See end of post!
« on: July 15, 2010, 01:18:45 PM »
Well, it's official!  She's in and Frank and Tony have started taking apart the car!  Went to another body shop that will let Frank help with most of the work.
Today we got the sample paint which will be back on the car.
It is the orginal paint color code!

We are finding out mysteries on the car now.  Found out that it was rear ended, but not too bad.

Enjoy the many pictures to follow! ;D

My heart sinks every time I look at these pictures! :o  But I know what the end of this process will bring!

And here is what they accomplished at the end of the day!

Tony did the whole front end by himself

98 degree weather is way too hot!

Day 3
Looks like I won't need a quarter panel.  The body shop men said that I could probably get away with a skin!! WooHoo! ;D
I will need a door though.  :(

Our other son Tyler, getting into the act!

Now just remove the whole front end, and all the paint and it will look just like mine (which has been sitting like that for months).  Gonna start working on it here in the next week or two though.  Good luck and I am sure your excited.  I just got paint last week and am excited to get the body work done, so I can paint it.

My car is in paint right now too so I kinda know how you feel.  It's all I can do not to go by and see it every day.  Maybe next time I will be brave enough to attempt it myself like you guys.  Good luck!  I'm sure you'll get it lookin like a new one!

The car was hit.  Not that we knew that, but it's ok, the body shop men are going to straighten it out.

We are finding out things as they go along.  Which of course is to be expected.  We're talking about a 32yr old car BUT this one has been saved!!

tell them the best way to keep all the bolts in order is when ou take them out, throw them over your shoulder and later on when your putting the car back together you'll find it right away lol

That's a pretty solid car.  I think you got lucky.

One thing that's bad is where the trunk skin wraps around the trunk hood frame.  Mine is the same way.  Let me know how they address that if at all.

heidi this is your official restoration thread post away. every screw that comes out take a pic lol its fun. but one thing

you have windsheilds? rare option? bullet proof?
lol busting your chomps
there is only one windsheild on a car....the front window is the wind sheild hence the name.
doors are called door glass
your rear one is called a back glass.
in other vehicles you have a vent glass and quarter glass as well.
just some knowledge for you so when they say were going to remove the windsheilds you can say oh the windsheild and back glass? lol
