Anyone ever seen one of these?
« on: April 10, 2009, 11:55:03 PM »
No fair getting the books out or doing a search.  Hint: if you look at the brochure you can see the answer.  I'd guess that no one on here has ever laid their hands on one of these.

what.... Rugers number one selling pistol the single six?? I wish I could get one in .357 , but I had to settle for a new Bisley Vaquero ( yes a Bisley Vaquero ) not just the Bisley they where only made for several years , is that the light weight or the standard ? thats also a later model ( post nfa) as it has serial numbers on the frame, the early ones didn't

I used the picture for a clue.  The three different colors alone show that it is a lightweight.  That is a tri-color model lightweight.  I wouldn't call it a later model.  It is the first year of the very limited production.  Tri-colors were only made in 1956, when the lightweight was introduced.

My dad had 2 of these that were in the velvet lined wooden box they came in.  Not sure if he still has them or not.  He's always dealing with guns even though he let his license expire years ago.

I wasn't aware that the lightweight version ever came with the hardwood box.  I thought all lightweights came in a standard Ruger cardboard box.  I'd love to see pics if he has any.

l'll have to stop by his house and see if he still has them.  I remember first seeing them and thought something was wrong since they were multi-colored.  He's had a lot of odd ball firearms in the past.  He had one years ago when I was just a little guy but I vividly remember it.  It came in a briefcase.  You could use it as a handgun or rifle.  You just changed it around.  I think it even had a silencer too.  I can't remember who it was made by.

Yetti if it was a matched set ( sequentail numbers ) they ussually came in a presentation box ( wood with red velvet interior ) the set of vaqueros ( special cowboy editions )  I bought several years back were a matched set and the they had a paper in them telling of ruger doing this along time ago . that is a nice peice if it is from the late fiftys look like it was hardly used ( by the ring on they cylinder )

This gun is getting a LOT of attention on the web.  Looks like it is going to get a new home soon.  Something about the tri-color with a serrated ejector and some other marking has the Ruger world very interested in this one ;D
