i have a tech question on the tail lights, are the firebird and t/a tail lights different on a 79? mine are in need of resto

I remember hearing that the firebird lights have 1 less lightbulb. If that's the case, the tail lights will fit in the opening but a bulb will be dangling in the breeze.

Not sure about the extra bulb, but the Firebird tail lights are red. The ones on the TA are smoked for a blacked out look.

that is what is different. The looks of the tail light lens.  Here are some pictures.  These are from 80- 81

As far as appearance, the T/A taillights are blacked out. The Firebird's aren't

I do have several 1979- 81 rear wiring harnesses, but they are packed away.  I have had nothing but 76 stuff on my brain lately.  How may sockets are there for the lic. plate light?  1 right?  Not 2 like the 74-78?  I dont remember

what about the bird on the fuel door?

i think i have wrong tail lights in my 79, they are not smoked and have the bird

In my pictures, the top one is from an 80 TA, the middle one is from an 81 TA,  and the bottom one half is from an 80 Esprit.  I dont know when they had the bird and when they did not.
